3. Action - Write to King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz

  • Also write to the Finance Minister, Dr Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Assaf, and The Foreign Minister, HRH Prince Saud Al Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
  • Ask them to show solidarity with their Iraqi brothers and sisters by not holding them responsible for Saddam's debts and reparations.
  • Explain that it is in the interests of Saudi Arabia to have a stable and prosperous Iraq. Dubai Investment Banker, Matein Khalid, has predicted "Iraq could well prove the catalyst of a new economic dawn in the Arab world." But this will only happen if Iraq is freed from Saddam's debts.
  • Echo the words of foreign minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal "Any utilization of the Iraqi resources should be in line with the will of the Iraqi people." (18th April) Iraqi resources should not be used to repay Saddam's debts, something which most Iraqis oppose.

General advice on writing to politicians.
